With more than 700 million listeners around the globe using Spotify as the soundtrack of their daily lives, the moment has arrived to reflect on the audio that shaped the past year.

Spotify’s annual Wrapped celebration is back, highlighting the artists, creators, authors, and cultural trends that made an impact, and revealing how each listener’s habits fit into the bigger picture.

This year in music was defined by the return of a global icon to the top, standout collaborations that became instant fan favorites, and a movie soundtrack that captured worldwide attention.

In podcasts and audiobooks, long-running hits continued to lead the charts, while the fantasy genre cemented its popularity among listeners.

For the fourth time, after dominating in 2020, 2021, and 2022, Spotify users again crowned Bad Bunny as the #1 global artist, racking up 19.8 billion streams.

His album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS also took home the title of top global album of 2025.

To commemorate the accomplishment, Spotify is rolling out a worldwide campaign including a short film titled Leap Year, special fan experiences, and a variety of on-platform surprises.

The rest of the global top five artists are Taylor Swift (who claimed the #1 spot in the U.S.), followed by The Weeknd, Drake, and Billie Eilish.

Trends That Shaped 2025

Music

This year’s most-played tracks reveal a mix of blockbuster collaborations and evergreen favorites.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s hit “Die With A Smile” topped the global chart with more than 1.7 billion streams, while ROSÉ and Bruno Mars secured third place with “APT.” Meanwhile, Billie Eilish’s “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” rose from #3 in 2024 to become the second-most-streamed song of 2025.

Bad Bunny’s DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS led the global album rankings, but film and TV also left their mark, with the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack taking second place.

Both Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet remained in the global top five for a second year, showing their staying power.

Podcasts

For the sixth year in a row, The Joe Rogan Experience claimed the title of Spotify’s top global podcast. It was followed by The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett and The Mel Robbins Podcast.

Listeners also turned to podcasts for real-time reactions to major cultural events, from analyzing the TikTok blackout to breaking down viral award-show moments and celebrity news, making podcasts a key hub for instant commentary and community.

Audiobooks

The romantasy wave was impossible to miss on Spotify in 2025. Authors like Rebecca Yarros and Sarah J. Maas dominated the audiobook charts worldwide.

A major trend emerged as listeners revived older titles, building a new library of “modern classics” to revisit time and again.
