The official trailer for “Speak No Evil,” the American remake of the 2022 Danish psychological horror thriller “Gaesterne”, has been released.
James McAvoy plays a dad with a dark side in the remake about a Danish family visiting a Dutch family they met on a holiday. What was supposed to be an idyllic weekend slowly starts unraveling as the Danes try to stay polite in the face of unpleasantness.
It is based on the screenplay by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup. James Watkins (The Woman in Black) will direct the project from his script.
Jason Blum will produce the remake for Blumhouse, with Paul Ritchie, Christian Tafdrup, Jacob Jarek, and Bea Sequeira serving as EPs.
“Speak No Evil” was shot in Gloucestershire, England, and Watkins joked that production was “just like summer camp… with a slight deviant edge.”
McAvoy and Blumhouse previously worked together on the combined half-billion-plus grossing hits, "Split" and "Glass".
The Blumhouse and Universal title premieres on September 13. It will go head-to-head with the animated Paramount feature "Transformers One".
