"Sonic the Hedgehog 4" Gets New Look

Production has wrapped up on “Sonic the Hedgehog 4.”

Jeff Fowler, who directed all three “Sonic” films, shared the news via X.

“On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we have filmed the BEST Sonic Movie yet and can’t wait to share," he wrote.

The filmmaker also shared a photo of himself in the director’s chair posing with a figure of Metal Sonic, the evil robot teased in the third installment.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 4” marks the latest adventure for the anthropomorphic speedster.

Plot details for the fourth film are under wraps. But the cast will be led by Ben Schwartz. Jim Carrey, Kristen Bell, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Nick Offerman, and Richard Ayoade.

Paramount’s live-action/CGI hybrid franchise has proved incredibly lucrative at the global box office, grossing a collective $1 billion.

“Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” which debuted in December 2024, is officially the property’s highest-grossing entry with $218 million domestically and $422 million globally to date.

The fourth installment in the franchise builds on the commercial success of its predecessors: the original 2020 “Sonic the Hedgehog” became a surprise winner, earning $148 million domestically and $319 million globally and setting a then-record for the highest-grossing video game adaptation in North America. The 2022 sequel “Sonic the Hedgehog 2″ was bigger than the first, powering to $190 million domestically and $405 million globally.

Earlier in January, the “Sonic” franchise collectively surpassed $1 billion in box office receipts worldwide.

"Sonic the Hedgehog 4” will be released on March 19, 2027.
