Egypt’s President، Abdel Fattah El Sisi accompanied earlier Thursday his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko in a tour to inspect the New Administrative Capital (NAC), according to presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi.
The tour includes the arts and culture city, the sports city, the Nativity of Christ Cathedral, and the governmental district.
President El-Sisi received Lukashenko on Wednesday at El-Etehadiya palace.
In a joint press conference, Lukashenko said, “Belarus and Egypt are close partners. We have great prospects. Lately, we have advanced our cooperation greatly. It is facilitated by a constant dialogue between Minsk and Cairo.”
The presidents' talks focused on trade and economic ties.
It is worth mentioning that, this is Lukashenko's third visit to Egypt in the history of bilateral relations, as he had previously visited Cairo in 1998 and 2017.
In 2015, the two leaders met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Since President Sisi’s first official visit to Belarus in June 2019, the bilateral trade rose 32% up to $142 million.
During his visit, Egypt's head of state held talks with his Belarus counterpart on ways to boost bilateral ties.
He also met with the speakers of the House of Representatives and the National Assembly.
The Egyptian president met with representatives of the business community in the country, heads of major companies, as well as senior officials and representatives of governmental bodies on means of boosting economic cooperation and vast investment opportunities in Egypt in light of major national projects in the country.
