Pope Tawadros II Leads Christmas Mass at NAC’s Cathedral

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark will lead Christmas mass at the “Nativity of Christ” Cathedral in the New Administrative Capital (NAC).

It is expected that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will attend the mass, set to kick off at 19:00 PM.

Moreover, the holy event will be attended by a galaxy of ministers, top state officials, and public figures.

"SEE" presents the most important Information about the NAC Cathedral:

 

  • The cathedral was opened on January 6, 2019 at NAC.

 

  • Orascom Company was responsible for the implementation of the Church under the supervision of the engineering body Egyptian Armed Forces.

 

  • It is considered the largest cathedral in the Middle East. It is located on an area of 15 acres, equivalent to 63 thousand square meters and can accommodate more than 8 thousand people.

 

  • The cathedral contains the main square, in addition to the Pontifical headquarters building, a reception hall, a meeting hall and administrative offices.

 

  • The cathedral comprises a museum for the history of the Coptic Church and a meeting room.

 

  • There are two lighthouses designed for the cathedral. The lighthouse was designed according to Coptic architecture and contains several bells at the top of the lighthouse.

 

  • The Cathedral Church contains a two-story underground garage and a service building.
