Sisi, Hungarian PM Discuss Fostering Ties, Regional Issues

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi held talks today, Wednesday, with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in Budapest, on the third day of his official visit to Hungary, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.

Orban welcomed Sisi, calling him "a dear friend in Hungary," expressing his country's appreciation for Egypt's leadership and people.

He lauded the close bilateral relations between Egypt and Hungary while affirming his country's keenness to continue upgrading those relations and enhancing cooperation and coordination at all levels.

On his part, Sisi thanked Orban for his invitation to visit Hungary and the warm reception and hospitality, praising the strength of the extended relations between Egypt and Hungary.

The two leaders tackled ways to enhance bilateral relations at various levels, as the Hungarian Prime Minister praised in this regard the remarkable development boom that Egypt has been witnessing in recent years.

With regard to the cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the "Visegrad" group; Sisipraised the results of the summit that was held yesterday between Egypt and the 4V countries, stressing that Egypt aspires for the current Hungarian presidency to witness a tangible development in the various fields of cooperation with Egypt.

The talks also touched on various developments in regional and international issues of common interest, as Orban lauded the positive role played by Egypt in the framework of working on the political settlement of all existing crises in its regional surroundings, as well as their efforts to combat extremist ideology and establish principles and values ​​of acceptance of others, freedom of choice and tolerance.

Sisi and Orban also exchanged views regarding the developments of the peace process in the Middle East, where the Hungarian PM hailed the recent Egyptian moves in this file at the highest level, as well as the tireless Egyptian efforts to consolidate the ceasefire between the Israelis and the Palestinians, and Egypt's initiative for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

The developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue were also discussed. Moreover, Sisi stressed the extent of the commitment shown by Egypt towards the course of negotiations and that the international community has to play an influential role in resolving this very important issue that affects Egypt's water interests.
