Dr. Ahmed Omar, director of Malwi Hospital in Minya, announced the death of popular folk singer Ismail El-Leithy, following a car accident in the early hours of last Friday while returning from a concert in Assiut.
The hospital director confirmed that El-Leithy’s condition had been critical. Although his blood pressure rose slightly after his admission and his breathing began to stabilize, he had undergone one kidney dialysis session, and his condition remained precarious.
Dr. Omar added that the hospital exerted significant effort and provided comprehensive care to save El-Leithy.
There had been some relative improvement after increasing his oxygen levels, but he remained in a coma in the intensive care unit receiving medical attention.
According to Minya security authorities, the Emergency Operations Room received a report of a collision between two private cars on the Eastern Desert Road in front of Malwi, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.
Ambulances and security forces immediately rushed to the scene, confirming that four people had died and six others were injured, including singer Ismail El-Leithy and his band members.
