The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Fustat welcomed H.E. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, President of the Republic of Singapore, accompanied by H.E. Dominic Goh, Singapore’s Ambassador to Cairo, and an official delegation, as part of his ongoing state visit to Egypt.
Dr. El-Tayeb Abbas, CEO of the Museum Authority, received the President and his delegation, extending a warm welcome and highlighting the museum’s unique location, rich history, and vital cultural and societal role as one of the most prominent museum landmarks in Egypt and the Middle East. Dr. Abbas also presented the President with a commemorative gift in appreciation of this distinguished visit.
The tour included several of the museum’s iconic galleries, such as the Main Exhibition Hall, the Royal Mummies Hall, and the Egyptian Textiles Hall. President Shanmugaratnam viewed priceless artifacts reflecting the richness and diversity of Egyptian civilization across thousands of years—from prehistoric times through the Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic, and Islamic periods, up to the modern era. The museum’s innovative display techniques provided the delegation with an engaging and interactive experience of Egypt’s vast historical legacy.
