Shoukry, Moroccan Counterpart Discuss Libya's Developments

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a phone call Monday with his Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita and discussed the latest developments related to the Libyan file, according to Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s Spokesperson Ahmed Hafez.

Hafez stated that Minister Shoukry confirmed during the call Egypt's firm position on supporting efforts aimed at reaching a consensual political solution that preserves the sovereignty and unity of Libya, fulfills the aspirations of the Libyan people towards security and stability, and preserves the capabilities and resources of the brotherly Libyan people.

Shoukry, Moroccan Counterpart Discuss Libya's Developments“Egypt aims to reach a political solution that can contribute to countering all manifestations of terrorism, extremism, and destructive foreign interference, which was clearly reflected in the Cairo declaration,” he added.

Moreover, the two ministers also discussed the current efforts to install a ceasefire and move forward towards a comprehensive political settlement of the Libyan crisis.

Shoukry and Bourita agreed to continue consultations and coordination between them and to intensify their contacts with the active political circles in the Libyan arena, as well as international partners, the United Nations envoy, and the African High-Level Committee on Libya in the African Union, as well as within the framework of the Arab League in connection with the rapprochement of holding the League Council.
