Shoukry, Malaysian Defense Min. Discuss Ways of Enhancing Bilateral Relations

As part of continuing work to enhance bilateral relations between Egypt and Malaysia, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry discussed with Malaysian Minister of Defence Hishammuddin Hussein, a number of issues of common interest between the two countries and ways to push bilateral relations towards broader horizons, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ahmed Hafez, said on "Twitter".

On Tuesday, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held talks with Malaysian Minister of Environment and Water, Tuan Ibrahim bin Tuan Man, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, as part of his current Asian tour.

In a statement, Hafez stated that the two ministers exchanged views on the most important issues on the agenda of the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 27) scheduled to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh.

He added that they also tackled ways to enhance coordination between the two countries during the coming period on priority issues, foremost of which are the climate change and its negative repercussions, ways to provide climate financing for developing countries, and efforts to reduce emissions, in addition to strengthening countries for their nationally determined contributions in accordance with the Paris Agreement.
