Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met today, Monday, with Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri bin Yaqoub.

Shoukry handed the Malaysian Prime Minister a message from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and expressed his hope that the visit would be an opportunity for enhancing bilateral relations between Egypt and Malaysia.

On Sunday, Shoukry began an Asian tour that includes Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Pakistan. The tour comes as part of Egypt’s distinguished relations and those friendly countries.

In a statement, Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Shoukry will meet with his counterparts and many officials in those countries to discuss ways to advance bilateral relations in various fields, in addition to many issues of common interest.

He added that they will also tackle climate change-related issues, taking into account that Egypt will chair the 27th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP27.

Hafez also added that Shoukry will also participate in the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which will be held in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on March 22-23.
