Sherine to Star in New Movie after 16 Years

Egyptian singer-actress, Sherine Abdel-Wahab has contracted on her first leading role in a movie with producer and concert organizer Walid Mansour, after 16 years of absence.

Actors from Egypt and the Arab world will audition after the movie contract with a major director in the movie.

It will be a musical genre and is scheduled to start shooting its first scenes in early 2020.

Sherine made her acting debut in 2003, co-starring in prominent actor Ahmed Helmy’s film “Medo Mashakil” (Medo is trouble).

In 2015, she co-starred in her first leading role in a TV series "Tariqi" (My Way), which achieved great success during its premiere in Ramadan.

Sherine took recently a break from social media due to people interfering in her personal life.

The 38-year-old superstar surprised her fans by announcing that she will shut down her accounts on Social Media after she was trolled online following her initiative to perform in Lebanon and donate the concert revenue to those affected by the fires in Lebanon.

It destroyed thousands of acres of land in Lebanon and engulfed forests starting from Mechref and spreading onto Kfarhbab, Nabatieh, Bnachii, Miziara, Jeita, Cornet El Hamra, Kfarmatta, Dabbieh, Damour, Chouf, Zaatari, Jounieh, and Mansourieh.

The wildfire has been described as the “worst to hit Lebanon in decades.”

The 38-year-old superstar talent was first discovered as a child by her music teacher at school, who convinced her mother to take her to the Cairo Opera House to meet veteran musician Selim Sahab.

She auditioned in front of him, who liked her voice a lot. The singer had served as a choral member at the Cairo Opera House from the age of nine to twelve, and then she was given a chance to become a solo singer.

She kept performing at the Cairo Opera House while looking for a music producer to launch her professional career.

Sherine, 18, was introduced to director and music producer Nasr Mahrous, who he liked her talented voice and decided to collaborate with her via “Free Music” production company, where she met with superstar, Tamer Hosny, a who was also a new talent seeking an opportunity.

Her first recorded song released in 2002 as a part of the album that included works of other artists.

The album was released, by the title “Free Mix3: Tamer and Sherine” and was a big hit all across the entire Middle East and North Africa. The album sold more than 20 Million copies all across the whole MENA.

It was a big hit particularly because of her single song called “Ah ya Leil”, which boosted her fame.

In early 2000, she made a duet song called “Bahebak” with Mohamed Mohy, which achieved great success and boosted her fame.

That album was followed by “Garrh Tanee” which was released in 2003 and boosted her continues success.

The 38-year-old superstar is considered as one of Egypt’s and Middle East’s most talented voices.
