Egyptian iconic composer and musician Riad El Sonbaty will be celebrated in a star-studded event in Saudi Arabia this week.
The event is held under the title "Rawaea El Sonbaty" and will take place at the Abu Bakr Salem Stage at Riyadh Boulevard City, on Thursday, November 30.
The evening will feature performances by Sherine, Mai Farouk, Reham Abd Elhakim, Eman Abd Elghani, Fouad Zbadi Saber Rebai, and Ahmed Saad.
El Sonbaty, November 30, 1906, was a 20th-century musician who was considered an icon of Egyptian Music.
The number of his lyric works is 539 works in Egyptian Opera, operetta, cinematic and religious song, poem, Taqtouqa, and Mawalia, while the number of song poets he composed for is more than 120 poets.
He composed for many famous Arab singers including Umm Kulthum, Fairouz, Asmahan, Warda Al-Jazairia, Najat Al Saghira, Mounira El Mahdeya, Fayza Ahmed, Saleh Abdel Hai, and Aziza Galal (who was the last singer to present one of his melodies).
He passed away on September 10, 1981, leaving behind a performing legacy.
