Sherif Fathy Participates in the Opening of the Global Tourism Forum Annual Meeting in the Belgian Capital, Brussels

​Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, participated in the opening of the Global Tourism Forum (GTF) Annual Meeting, held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, under the theme "Redefining Tourism in a Changing World." The event is organized by the World Tourism Forum Institute from October 20 to 21.

​The Global Tourism Forum is a high-level international event, serving as an international cooperation platform focused on addressing the challenges of the travel and tourism sector. It brings together leaders, innovators, experts, and decision-makers in the sector to discuss current developments and the future of the industry.

​This year, the Forum focuses on key topics, including the role of technology in tourism, technological innovations shaping the industry such as Artificial Intelligence, sustainable tourism and environmental policies, global investment trends and prospects in tourism, public-private sector cooperation, opportunities in emerging markets, enhancing the competitiveness of tourist destinations, sustainable aviation, and digital transformation in airports and services impacting the travel experience.

​The Forum seeks to achieve sustainable development models for emerging travel markets, in addition to devising strategies to ensure tourism growth.

​The opening was attended by a host of ministers and CEOs of tourism institutions, Shaikha Al Nowais, the Secretary-General-elect of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), in addition to officials responsible for tourism and antiquities affairs at the European Commission.
