Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi Launches “Sharjah: The Capital of Culture”

Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), witnessed the launch of “Sharjah: The Capital of Culture”. 

The book celebrates Sharjah’s cultural evolution through seven chapters covering architecture, art, education, environment, literature, museums, and craftsmanship.

Unveiled at the House of Wisdom, the event offered a multisensory experience featuring 3D architectural installations, Emirati crafts, calligraphy performances, and culinary art, reflecting Sharjah’s fusion of tradition and innovation.

Sheikha Bodour described Sharjah’s cultural journey as “a bridge between heritage and innovation, illuminating the world through knowledge, creativity, and human connection.” She emphasized that the collaboration with Assouline reflects the emirate’s belief in the power of culture to inspire sustainable development and global dialogue.

The book highlights landmarks such as the Heart of Sharjah, House of Wisdom, Sharjah Mosque, and Mleiha National Park, along with milestones like Sharjah’s UNESCO recognitions and the recent inscription of the Faya Palaeolandscape as a World Heritage Site.

Following the success of “Mleiha: Ancient Treasures of the UAE”, this second Shurooq–Assouline collaboration reinforces Sharjah’s identity as a global hub of creativity and cultural heritage.
