The Muslim Council of Elders launched its first cultural seminar at the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, titled “Reflections on My Experience with Al-Amidi,” featuring eminent scholar Sheikh Hassan Al-Shafie. A member of Al-Azhar’s Council of Senior Scholars and the Muslim Council of Elders, Sheikh Al-Shafie shared insights on the profound influence of Imam Al-Amidi in shaping rational thought and promoting scholarly dialogue in Islamic tradition.
Moderated by Dr. Mohamed Mashal of Al-Azhar University, the seminar explored Al-Amidi’s contributions to theology, philosophy, and the principles of Islamic jurisprudence, emphasizing his standing as a major figure of Islamic thought following Imam Al-Ghazali. Sheikh Al-Shafie recounted his personal academic journey engaging with Al-Amidi’s works and highlighted their enduring relevance in contemporary Islamic scholarship.
