Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, and Dr. Enas Abdel Dayem, the Egyptian Minister of Culture, inaugurated the 40th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF).
Organized by the Sharjah Book Authority at the Expo Center Sharjah, this edition is held under the theme of “Here .. you have a book."
In addition, it sees the participation of 1632 Arab and foreign publishers, 85 writers, alongside selecting Spain as the edition's guest of honor.
Regarding the two prizes won by Egyptian publishers are: the Prize of Adults Book for author Afaf Tabalah, and painter Mariam Hany's "Horoub Sagher," and the Prize of Comic Book for author Weam Ahmed, and painter Ali Al Zeiny's "70 Kilos."
During her speech, Abdel Dayem congratulated the winners and showed her since happiness for the prizes got by the Egyptian authors.
She said that the two prizes proved Egypt's creativity and civilization creative soil and express its civilizational leadership, in addition, she asserted that she supports all forms of Egypt's soft powers.
Moreover, the minister and the Sharjah Ruler inspected the halls of Egyptian participants that host the Egyptian General Book Organization and the National Library and Documentation House.
There are several valuable and unique book editions exhibited at the event such as the "Encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt" by Salim Hassan, and a historical edition of "The Arabian Nights"
Moreover, the minister reviewed the latest releases by the Ministry of Culture such as Mohamed El Baz's "Al Modalilon," and an Encyclopedia dedicated to adults about Ancient Egyptian history, among others.
