Colombian singer Shakira stepped down from performing in the 2022 World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar, which will kick off next week.
The singer reportedly denied the offer after hundreds of human rights organizations criticized her attendance in the Arab country.
Shakira has not confirmed the news yet and her fans are still waiting for an official statement from the singer explaining her absence in Qatar.
The opening ceremony will take place on 20 November, ahead of the opening Group A match between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.
South Korean boy band BTS affirmed that Jungkook, one of the group's seven members, will perform at the ceremony. Other names reported to be involved in the opening ceremony include the Black Eyed Peas, Robbie Williams, and Nora Fatehi, according to The Telegraph.
