Lebanese-Colombian pop star Shakira has unveiled her official song for the 2026 World Cup.
The 49-year-old, behind hits such as "Whenever, Wherever" and "Hips Don't Lie", announced "Dai Dai" on Thursday as the anthem for this summer's tournament in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
Shakira shared a one-minute video on Instagram from Brazil's Maracana stadium to tease the track, featuring Nigerian singer Burna Boy and arriving on May 14.
“You from the day you were born/ here in the space you belong … what broke you once, made you strong,” she sings from the Maracanã Stadium, followed by an aerial footage of the stadium with the phrase “We are ready! ⚽️🐺".
“Dai Dai” is a catchy reggaetón-tinged Afrobeats song that perfectly blends Shakira and Burna’s musical worlds.
A true World Cup sweetheart, the track marks Shakira's second official World Cup anthem after "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" for the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
The singer also had the second theme song for the 2014 tournament with "La La La" (Brazil 2014), which she performed at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro.
Shakira, who has two sons from a former relationship with ex-Spain and Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, also presented "Hips Don't Lie" at the 2006 closing ceremony in Germany.
Her country, Colombia, will be competing at the 48-team tournament that runs from June 11 to July 19.
News of “Dai Dai” comes on the heels of Shakira performing for more than two million people on Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Beach on May 2.
