Egyptian actress Ghada Abdel Razek's upcoming TV adaptation of the 1956 film "Shabab Imraa" is set to screen during the Ramadan 2025 drama marathon.
"Shabab Imraa" is one of the 100 most important films in the history of Egyptian cinema.
It featured a starry cast that includes the likes of Shadya, Taheyya Kariokka, Shokry Sarhan, Abdel Wareth Asar, Serag Mounir, and Fardos Mohamed.
Salah Abu Seif directed the pic from a script he co-wrote alongside Amin Yousseff Ghurab and Sayid Bidir. It was screened at the 1956 Cannes Film Festival.
"Shabab Imraa" chronicles the life of Imam Biltagy Hassanein (Sarhan), a young man who comes from the countryside to study in Cairo.
He rents a house in the Al-Khalifa neighborhood from a woman called Shafaat (Kariokka), who seduces him and causes him to fall back on his studies.
However, a young woman close to him who has known him since childhood helps him out of the spiral, despite her father advising him to stay away from her, leading Hassanein to try to break free from Shafaat’s clutches.
Abdel Razek is reteaming up with Egyptian actor Mohamed Alaa on the series, which marks his script-writing debut.
The duo starred together last Ramadan in the "Sayd Al Aqarab", which also starred Ahmad Maher, Ryad El Khouly, Simone, Mayar El Ghity, and more.
The 30-episode series hailed from scriptwriter Baher Dowaidar and director Ahmed Hassan.
Abdel Razek, born on July 6, 1965, studied computer science at Cairo University. She started her career on television with several appearances in television commercials.
She started getting film roles in the early 1990s and scored her first major role in the 1999 film “Lamadah” (Chatterbox).
Abdel Razek is known for her roles in TV productions such as "Ya Regal Al-Alem Etahido" (2000), "Aailat Al Hajj Metwaly” (2001), "Batta W Akhwatha" (2004), "Al-Batniya" (2009), “Ma’a Sabq Al Israr” (2012), "El Kabous" (2015), “Hekayet Kayat” (2013), and "Al-Sayyeda Al-Oula" (2014).
She is also known for her performances in theatrical productions such as “Al Ikhwa Al Andal” (The Wicked Brothers), and “Houda Karama”.
In 2003, Abdel Razek took part in the Ramadan trivia show “Farah Farah” (Joy Joy).
