Today, the Cairo International Film Festival screened "September Says" by Ariane Labed. The film is among the participants in the international competition.

The film revolves around the story of three women: a mother, Sheela, and two daughters: September and July.

The director dives into the secret and controversial worlds of women. She touches upon the sensitivity of emotions like love, sexuality, feminity, desire, lust, and confidence by her deep characterization.

September is a dynamic character, she reflects confidence, strength, and leadership. She trusts herself, and her powers. She has a true sense of rebellion and extremism. She chooses to be wandering between paradox and extremism as she is negatively impacted by her mother's frustrating emotional life with her father.

On the other hand, July reflects the dark side of women. She doesn't believe in herself and completely depends on her sister. She is naive. However, there are moments when July wants to feel herself and seeks independence. On the other hand, she returns to search for September's personality, voice, and commands.

The film reflects a sense of horror and Gothic trends, in addition to combining British realism with dark shades of fantasy, and touches from Greek, and Irish folktales and traditional myths.
