Spyglass is developing the eighth installment of the long-running horror franchise "Scream" with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing.
The Zuckerman sisters previously served as showrunners for season one of Peacock’s "Poker Face," starring Natasha Lyonne.
They have also worked as writers and executive producers on series including "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Suits," "Fringe," and "Prodigal Son".
The news comes as "Scream 7", released February 27 and saw franchise creator Kevin Williamson step behind the camera for the first time on the horror franchise — became the highest-grossing film in the franchise, earning more than $200 million worldwide. It was also the first installment to be released in Imax theaters.
The film also saw the return of its final girl, Neve Campbell — who did not appear in "Scream 6" due to salary disputes — and her teenage daughter Tatum (Isabel May), who is targeted by Ghostface.
The screenplay was co-written by Williamson and Guy Busick (Ready or Not films, Abigail).
Earlier this month, Williamson made headlines saying he likely won’t direct "Scream 8." “For the next Scream, I’ll probably step back and just be a part of the family again,” he told Hello Sidney.
Shortly after the film premiered, Anna Camp, who appeared in "Scream 7," revealed that she heard chatter about another installment.
When asked, she said: “Just rumors, just rumors. I haven’t heard from anyone specifically that I worked with, like Kevin or Neve, but I’ve heard the rumors going around that there’s a Scream 8.”
Additional cast members included Courteney Cox, Matthew Lillard, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Joel McHale, Mckenna Grace, Isabel May, Michelle Randolph, Ethan Embry, Mark Consuelos, Jimmy Tatro, Celeste O’Connor, Asa Germann, and Sam Rechner.
