The Scottish biographical drama I Swear was screened at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF 46), highlighting its rising profile on the global film circuit.
Directed, written, and produced by Kirk Jones, I Swear tells the remarkable true story of John Davidson, a Scottish man diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome. The cast includes Robert Aramayo as John, Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson, and Peter Mullan. ([Wikipedia][2])
The film explores John’s struggles during his youth in Galashiels, his public diagnosis in the 1990s, and the impact of his condition, once hardly recognized, on his personal and family life.
I Swear premiered at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, marking a strong debut for the film. According to CIFF schedules, it was screened at the Hanager Theatre during the festival’s third day.
This year’s Cairo festival, running from 12–21 November 2025, features around 80 films from more than 45 countries, a testament to its role as a global bridge between cultures.
For I Swear, inclusion in CIFF represents a major opportunity to reach Middle Eastern audiences and strengthen its international footprint ahead of wider release.
