Two hours ago, Spotify Arabic officially releases the “This Mohamed Mounir” playlist. It contains the top 50 or the essential songs that defined Mounir’s music.
The playlist selected various celebrated songs by Mounir, the King, such as “Fi Dairet El Rehla,” “Yunis,” “Eqrar,” “Shababek,” “Etkalemi,” “Baa’teb Aa’leki,” and “Hawadet.”
Spotify playlist came out in October which witnessed the birthday of Mounir. Early this month, Mounir turned 66 years old.
Born in Aswan, Mounir inherited a sense of love and belonging to the Nile, even when he moved to Cairo, he took the Nubian/African culture with him.
Aiming to revive his native culture and music, Mounir’s music reflects Nubian native culture.
His music carries various musical traditions such as folk, jazz, oriental, rock, and Nubian music.
Mounir is internationally recognized for being one of the earliest musicians who combine oriental music with “Al Selem El Khomasy” of Nubian inherited musical patterns.
