The Aswan International Women's Film Festival (AIWFF) announced that the veteran artist Sawsan Badr will be awarded with Isis Award for Excellency during the opening of the upcoming edition on February 23.
The reasons for awarding Badr are her long artistic career, and her unforgettable contributions in the scene of Egyptian and Arabic arts.
On her side, Ambassador Mervat Tallawy, the head of the AIWFF's Board of Trustees, said that Badr is a bright symbol for the Egyptian woman on the screen as she is a talented actress, in addition, she has great interest and awareness towards women and society's issues.
Tallawy expressed that Badr participated in several films that discuss and shed the light on women's problems, issues, and position in society such as "Ehky Ya Shahrazad" (Shahrazad, Tell Me a Story), "Al Abwab El Moghlaka" (The Closed Doors), "Asrar El Banat" (Girls' Secrets), and "678."
She added that Badr is popular among Egyptians and Arabs due to her facial features that carry the features of Ancient Egyptians, Tallawy also quoted the late Shady Abdel Salam's description for Badr as: "A runner from a temple."
