Famous businessman, and the founder of the El Gouna Film Festival (GFF) Naguib Sawiris, said that the fifth edition of the GFF saw the biggest film participation since its founding. He issued the statement to reporters during the festival opening's red carpet.
The number of participating films in the 5th edition reached 80 films, including seven Egyptian films.
He explained the whole team was worried during the organization of the first edition of the GFF, that's why the organizing team became more self-confident, new additions were attached to the venue, and more organizing steps were taken.
Regarding organizing the festival during the pandemic, Sawiris commented that the Minister of Health Dr. Hala Zayed did great efforts for supporting the event by deploying a medical team for the festival.
He continued that the festival was organized last year, and the pandemic was in its climax, and this move motivated various festivals to receive an audience.
In the same context, the businessman called all people to get vaccinated to adapt to life in the post-pandemic period.
Finally, he responded to the news of the fire that broke out in the venue yesterday, saying, that the team didn't schedule a fire before the opening ceremony by 24 hours.
