Sarah Michelle Gellar (Ready or Not 2: Here I Come) and Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks) will star in "Thud," a supernatural romance from director Mali Elfman (Next Exit), where they’ll respectively play the Grim Reaper and the Devil.
Based on an original screenplay by Noga Pnueli (Meet Cute), "Thud" watches as the Grim Reaper and the Devil meet cute at a three-day destination wedding, falling in love after colliding at the event, where they’ve each come to sow their own chaos.
Set to shoot in Los Angeles with a California tax credit, the project will be produced by Derek Bishé and David Grove Churchill Viste.
Exec producers include Helmstreet Productions’ Lindsay Helms and Joel Nevells, Divide/Conquer‘s Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks, Radio Silence‘s Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Dan Lawler, and Pnueli.
Lisa Zagoria (Brothers, The Present) is the project’s casting director.
Gellar reunites here with Radio Silence after starring in their Searchlight horror comedy sequel "Ready or Not 2: Here I Come".
Other recent projects include Showtime’s "Dexter: Original Sin" and a cameo in Sony’s reboot of her "I Know What You Did Last Summer" franchise.
Next up, she has the Tubi animated series "Breaking Bear," where she voices the character Blair, the middle and brainy sister of a dysfunctional bear family alongside Brendan Fraser, Josh Gad, and Annie Murphy.
Best known for starring in Netflix’s "Outer Banks," Pankow is coming off of Universal’s Colleen Hoover adaptation "Reminders of Him," where he starred alongside Tyriq Withers and Maika Monroe.
He just wrapped a role opposite Ben Foster in the modern "Western Cowboy" from Cameron Duddy and will next be seen in Hulu’s comedy "Never Change!," which is coming off its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival.
