Sarah Michelle Gellar has been tapped to play Dexter Morgan’s new boss at the Miami Metro Police Department in the upcoming “Dexter” prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin.”
Set in 1991 Miami, “Dexter: Original Sin” follows Dexter (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Gellar will play the special guest star role of Tanya Martin, the CSI chief at the Miami Metro Police Department and Dexter Morgan’s new boss.
She joins the previously announced cast members starring in the “Dexter” prequel series including Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan, Patrick Dempsey as Aaron Spencer, Molly Brown as Debra Morgan, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta, Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka, and Reno Wilson as Bobby Watt.
Best known for her iconic role as Buffy Summers in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” Gellar’s other notable TV credits include Paramount+’s “Wolf Pack,” CBS’ ”The Crazy Ones” opposite Robin Williams and CW’s “Ringer.”
