The 28th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG), honoring the best television and film performances of 2021, were handed out Sunday.
"CODA" took home the award for best film ensemble, becoming the first film with a predominantly deaf cast to receive the award. The cast — including a shocked Marlee Matlin — expressed their surprise at the win.
Troy Kotsur, Daniel Durant, and Matlin of “CODA” are the first deaf actors to be recognized in the motion picture ensemble category. Kotsur is the first deaf performer to land an inpidual acting nomination.
