Apple Original Films and Skydance are continuing to expand their strong ties with another star-studded project.
The two are partnering on the action-adventure movie "Mayday" with Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh starring and Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley directing.
The script has been done for some time before the WGA Strike started.
The movie is based on an original pitch from Goldstein and Daley, who came to Skydance earlier this year with the idea and had been developing prior to Apple’s involvement.
"Mayday" started gaining serious momentum once Reynolds showed interest in April to join the projecty.
Hailing from a first-look partnership between Apple and Skydance Media, "Mayday" will be produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger alongside Reynolds, Ashley Fox, Johnny Pariseau and Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort.
In addition to writing and directing, Goldstein and Daley will serve as producers. Carin Sage will oversee the project for Skydance.
The movie also reunites Apple with Reynolds, who starred in the hit Christmas musical "Spirited", which bowed on Thanksgiving.
It also starred Will Ferrell and at the time was the biggest movie to premiere on Apple TV+. He also has strong ties with Skydancem which produced his hit Netflix sci-fi adventure The Adam Project.
