Russia Wins 3 Prizes at CIAF

The Director of the Cultural Development Fund Dr. Fathy Abdel Wahab and the Commissaire of Cairo International Animation Forum (CIAF) Dr. Ahmed Hanu inaugurated the 13th edition of the event.

Several international figures and officials attended the opening ceremony including the Minister of Culture Dr. Neven El Kilany and the Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt Murad Gatin.

Took place at Adam Henein Hall at the El Hanager Cultural Center, the opening ceremony started with presenting some tributes to leading Egyptian figures in the field of animation such as Artist Samy Meghawry, Artist Islam El Sayed, Director Attiya Khayri, Music Composer Sherif Nour, and others.

On his side, El Kilany said that organizing such an event represents the ministry's vision of supporting all forms of arts. In addition, it reflects the richness of Egyptian culture and its wide and deeply-rooted contributions to all kinds of arts.

Abdel Wahab also expressed his happiness in restoring the spirit of the forum which asserts Egypt believe in this kind of art which helps in forming the Egyptian identity and personality.

He added that the number of participants reached 110 from different 29 countries, highlighting that the event will host workshops for creating a platform for knowledge and experience exchange.

Gatin also reflected his pleasure to get onto the stage for three times to carry three prizes for Russia at the forum, underscoring that these festivals create a strong channel for cultural communication.

The three prizes were Best Film Prize and Best Director for Denis Chernov and his film "Teddy Boom," alongside Second Film Prize for Andrey Kolpin's "The Everlasting Story."
