A missile fell in a residential neighborhood in the city of Belgorod, southwestern Russia, resulting in a huge crater at its crash site.
The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the explosion in the Russian city of Belgorod was caused by a missile falling from a "Su-34" plane of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, on Thursday evening, that "at about 22:15 Moscow time, an accident occurred when a" Su-34" plane of the Russian Aerospace Forces was flying over the city of Belgorod, when a shell fell."
The ministry added that the accident resulted in damage to residential buildings, without causing any injuries or casualties.
The Ministry of Defense confirmed that it is investigating the incident.
The local authorities in the city of Belgorod near the border with Ukraine had announced an explosion in the city, noting that the accident did not result in casualties.
