Two Russian Media delegations including well-known reporters and journalists arrived in Egypt Wednesday on a new mission to inspect safety procedures at Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada's attractions and highlight the latest steps and preparations that have been taken to resume flights to Red Sea destinations after a five-year suspension.

The media delegations were received by the members of the tourism authority at the airports of Hurgada and Sharm El-sheikh with roses, souvenirs gifts, tourism promotion posters, and flyers in Russian languages.

On his part, the head of the foreign tourism department at the General Authority for Tourism Promotion Maged Abo Sedira cited the latest visit as a step intended to revive the tourism sector and promote the Egyptian attractions through the Russian media coverage."

“The authorities are keen on increasing Russian tourism to Egypt,” he noted.

He added: "Egyptian authorities are confident that the upcoming touristic events will help to further identify opportunities to enhance the touristic cooperation between the two nations."

During their visit, the Russian delegations have checked security and safety procedures adopted at departure and arrival halls, as well as hotels and resort-related safety procedures in both coastal cities.

"The media crews covered the procedures related to flights, security measures related to airport fences, surveillance cameras, and tarmac security systems,” the director of the office of Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Activation in Sharm El-Sheikh Islam Nabil reported.
