Russian House in Cairo to Celebrate High Dam’s 51st Anniversary

The Russian House in Cairo is all set to celebrate the 51st anniversary of constructing the High Dam on Tuesday.

The High Dam Builders Association, headed by Eng. Sabri El-Ashmawy, and the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities are also taking part in the celebration.

The celebration, which will take place at 6 pm at the Russian House’s headquarters in Dokki, will include a number of Egyptian engineers and technicians who participated in the dam’s construction.

In this regard, Ashmawy expressed his profound gratitude to the Russian House for holding the celebration, stressing the depth of the historical partnership between the Russian House and the Association.

On his part, Marat Gatin, director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, admired the organization, asserting that this celebration is both Egyptian and Russian as it expresses the will of the two peoples and the extraordinary achievement of a historical building despite all the challenges that accompanied the construction process.

In like manner, Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, affirmed that the graduates are keen on celebrating the two main occasions every year; establishing the dam in January and persion of the Nile River in May.

Moreover, Gad expressed his happiness to meet with the heroes and builders of the dam. He also thanked Gatin for representing the Russian side in organizing an artistic ceremony in honor of the members of the Dam Builders Association.

The ceremony will have a program, supervised by Louisa Bledgiants who is responsible for the choir studio and presenting a medley of Russian folk songs.
