The Russian Helicopters Holding Company participated, on Tuesday, in the Egypt Defense Expo (EDEX 2021), which kicked off in Cairo on Monday.  During EDEX 2021, Russian Helicopters were asked the following questions:

What kind of products and technologies will be presented at EDEX 2021?

"Russian Helicopters" Holding Company presents a wide range of civil and military rotorcraft to potential customers. We are introducing Ka-52 and Mi-35P attack helicopters, as well as military transport Mi-17V-5.

We also demonstrate a variety of service solutions to ensure airworthiness and timely maintenance of Russian helicopters.

Could you tell us about current orders and potential products, which may attract the attention of the Egyptian military?

I believe our Egyptian colleagues will answer this question. Together with Rosoboronexport, we are ready to offer a whole line of combat helicopters designed and manufactured by "Russian Helicopters", which meets all modern demands for military rotorcraft.

These are unique in their capability’s transport helicopters of the Mi-8/17 family. Depending on customer requirements it can be equipped with the most advanced electronics, optoelectronic stations, including the pilot's cockpit and cargo cabin armor protection.

Mi-8/17 can also carry the most perse set of weapons - guided anti-tank and air-to-air missiles, unguided rockets, cannon containers, bombs and so on. Mi-8 and its latest modifications have no equal in terms of “reliability-load-carrying-capacity-capabilities performance combination and its ability to work in hot climates and highlands" criteria.

Besides that, the "Russian Helicopters" range includes Mi-28 assault helicopters, Ka-52, and Mi-35 series rotorcraft. Each of these rotorcraft has its specific features, but all of them have advanced capabilities of searching and destroying enemy combat equipment.

Could you tell us about the Egyptian market's importance for Russian defense products?

We have a long and fruitful history of military-technical cooperation with the Republic of Egypt, dating back to the Soviet Union. I cannot speak for the whole defense-industrial complex, but we highly appreciate our Egyptian partners' trust and interest.

"Russian Helicopters" Holding is always ready for dialogue and willing to offer any helicopters, not only military rotorcraft but also civil, including our newest models, such as Mi-38, Ka-226T, AnsatAurus and so on.

What kind of modernization programs adopted by Egyptian armed forces can be of interest?

Unfortunately, I cannot answer this question. It would be better to address it to our colleagues from FSMTC.

How can Egypt's demands for nationalization and increased domestic production and maintenance capabilities for military equipment be met?

That is a very good question. "Russian Helicopters" Holding has gained quite a lot of experience in the field of localization. For example, the assembly of Mi-8AMT helicopters from assembly kits manufactured at Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant is coming to the mass production level.

The plant in Alma-Aty not only assembles helicopters but also additionally equips them with electronics and provides painting. Four helicopters have already been handed over to the customer and have performed very well.

Two more Mi-8AMT are expected to be delivered by the end of the year. We hope to increase production volumes in Kazakhstan next year. When it comes to service, as for now, there are about 10 service centers for helicopter maintenance that are being established and upgraded abroad.

"Russian Helicopters" Holding Company is engaged in qualitative improvement and service availability in different world regions and ready to provide the best possible service models from the customer's point of view in this respect as well.
