The Russian Cultural Center in Cairo is set to celebrate the 106th birthday of the renowned Egyptian singer and composer Sheikh Imam on Thursday, July 4, at 8 PM.
The event will be held at the Tchaikovsky Theater within the Russian House in Cairo, in collaboration with the Sheikh Imam Lovers Association for Arts and Literature.
The celebration will feature a program of Sheikh Imam's iconic songs, performed by singer Ahmed Ismail, accompanied by percussionist Zain Al-Abidin Mohamed.
Singer Mohamed Ezzat will also participate, presenting a musical segment of his own compositions, with singer Farida joining him. Additionally, the event will include a special performance by Shaaban Eissa, Sheikh Imam’s nephew, and a poetry recital by poet Mahmoud El-Tawil.
A documentary film about Sheikh Imam's life and career will also be screened.
Murad Gatin, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, expressed his delight in organizing the event, which honors the creative journey of one of the most significant figures in Egyptian music history.
Poet Sayed Anba, Chairman of the Sheikh Imam Lovers Association, thanked the Russian Cultural Center for its support in hosting the celebration.
Sherif Gad, Director of Cultural Activities, extended an invitation to the Egyptian and Arab public to attend the event and honor one of the foremost symbols of national songs in Egypt.
