Russian Ambassador Thanks Sherif Ged Before Leaving Egypt

Before concluding his tenure in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Russian Ambassador to Cairo, Georgiy Borisenko, sent a warm and heartfelt message of appreciation to Sherif Ged, President of the Egyptian Association of Russian and Soviet Universities Alumni, Secretary-General of the Egyptian-Russian Friendship Association, and Director of Cultural Activities at the Russian House in Cairo.

In his message, Ambassador Borisenko expressed his pride in the relationship that brought them together, stating:

"Dear Sherif, as my term in Egypt comes to an end and before my departure, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your friendship and for the tremendous efforts you have led over decades in support of Egyptian-Russian relations. My deepest gratitude to you, and I look forward to seeing you in Moscow."

For his part, Sherif Ged praised the Ambassador’s tireless efforts throughout his tenure, affirming that they contributed significantly to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. He noted that from his very first week in Egypt, Ambassador Borisenko was keen to engage with alumni, with their meeting marking his first official activity, followed by an important gathering at Al-Ahram in cooperation with the Alumni Association.

Ged highlighted several key achievements during the Ambassador’s tenure, including:

National Projects: Support for the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the steady growth of trade, economic, and tourism relations.

Year of Humanitarian Cooperation: The successful activation of the Egyptian-Russian “Year of Humanitarian Cooperation,” which continued despite the COVID-19 pandemic and extended over two consecutive years (2020–2022).

Presidential Visits: High-level coordination of reciprocal visits between President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and President Vladimir Putin.

Cultural Diplomacy: Ongoing support for the Russian House in Cairo and the strengthening of soft power and people-to-people ties between both nations.

Sherif Ged concluded by wishing the Ambassador success in his new mission, affirming the continuation of cooperation between the Russian side and the Alumni Association in service of both friendly peoples, and emphasizing that Ambassador Borisenko’s legacy will remain firmly embedded in the distinguished history of diplomatic relations between Cairo and Moscow.
