Hours ago, Russia recorded the highest daily cases of Covid-19  with 28,782. Also, the country reported 508 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall official toll to 42,684, according to data from the country’s coronavirus response center.

Starting from yesterday, vaccination centers across Moscow started to distribute Russia’s Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine, which is developed by Russian scientists, but still hasn't completed Phase 3 of human trials.

Also, the producers are expected to only make two million doses of the vaccine by the end of the year.

Moreover, Moscow’s coronavirus taskforce reported that it distributed the Sputnik V vaccine to 70 clinics, marking Russia’s first mass Covid-19 immunisation. According to taskforce, the Russian-made vaccine would be made available first to doctors and other medical workers, teachers and social workers because they ran the highest risk of exposure to the disease.

People with certain underlying health conditions, pregnant women and those who have had a respiratory illness for the past two weeks are barred. Noteworthy, Coronavirus is continuing its spread across the world with more than 65 million confirmed cases in 190 countries and about 1.5 million deaths.

The virus is surging in many regions and countries that had apparent success in suppressing initial outbreaks are also seeing infections rise again.
