The Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) is honouring the legendary composer and singer Mohammed Abdul Wahab (1902–1991) with an extensive cultural programme, running from January 16 to February 28, 2025.
The initiative aims to celebrate his profound influence on Arab music and introduce his legacy to new generations through exhibitions, discussions, concerts, and film screenings.
Exhibition Highlights Abdul Wahab’s Journey
The programme features an interactive exhibition showcasing rare photographs, documents, personal belongings, and holographic technology, offering an immersive insight into Abdul Wahab’s remarkable artistic journey. The exhibition is open daily, except Fridays, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

ROHM's schedule includes several educational and performance events:
February 12: A discussion by Dr. Shereen Badr on Abdul Wahab’s collaboration with Umm Kulthum, examining their impact on Arab music.
February 14: A casual session, "Coffee and Dates," with singers Ali El Haggar and Mohammed Mohsen at 5:00 PM.
February 15: A concert featuring Ali El Haggar and Mohammed Mohsen performing Abdul Wahab’s iconic works.
February 17: "Spirit of the Orient," a quintet concert of instrumental pieces from Abdul Wahab's repertoire.
February 18: Screening of A Bullet in the Heart (1944) with a pre-screening discussion led by Ameer Ramsis, Nahla Mattar, and Mohammed Nabil.
February 20: The final tribute concert featuring Reham Abdul Hakim and Jahida Wehbe, focusing on Abdul Wahab’s compositions for Umm Kulthum.
A Lasting Legacy
Mohammed Abdul Wahab, known as the "Musician of Generations," revolutionized Arab music with his fusion of Western instruments and traditional melodies. Over his 74-year career, he composed more than 1,800 songs and worked with iconic artists like Umm Kulthum.
Through this comprehensive programme, the Royal Opera House Muscat reaffirms its commitment to preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage of the Arab world while introducing younger generations to one of its most celebrated musical figures.
