Romeo Beckham will make his acting debut in “Forty Love,” directed by renowned fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti.
“Forty Love,” which marks the first directorial outing of Carlotti, is produced by Hugo Sélignac and Paco de Bary at Chi-Fou-Mi Productions, a Mediawan company, and co-produced by Studiocanal and Manna Studios.
The 23-year-old model and former footballer stars opposite Paul Kircher (“The Animal Kingdom”), Guillaume Canet (“Sink or Swim”) and Benjamin Voisin (“The Stranger”), with an appearance from Catherine Deneuve.
“Forty Love” is scored by 070 Shake and Johan Lenox.
The movie follows Sacha Gallo, a tennis superstar who’s been training with his father to win a major trophy in Paris. But the arrival of a charismatic new rival — played by Beckham — challenges everything Sacha thought he understood about competition, ambition, and himself.
“For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature — love,” the synopsis reads. “A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing — and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
Beckham, the son of soccer legend David and former singer and designer Victoria, has been modeling for several years for the biggest luxury brands like Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.
Carlotti co-wrote the script with Gaëlle Macé, whose credits include Rebecca Zlotowski’s “A Private Life” starring Jodie Foster.
On top of co-producing, Studiocanal is handling worldwide sales and will release “Forty Love” theatrically in France on November 25.
Selignac, whose best-known credits include critically acclaimed crowdpleasers such as “Beating Hearts” and “All Your Faces,” presented a record five movies at this year’s Cannes, notably Jeanne Herry’s Palme d’Or contender “Garance,” starring Adele Exarchopoulos, and Quentin Dupieux’s “Full Phil” with Kristen Stewart and Woody Harrelson.
