In a major scientific celebration in Italy, the Archaeological Academy in Rome awarded renowned Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass an honorary diploma of membership, recognizing his international contributions to archaeology and the protection of human heritage. With this honor, Hawass becomes an official member of one of Europe’s most prestigious academic institutions.

The recognition came ahead of his lecture at the Egyptian Museum in Turin, the most significant museum of Egyptian antiquities in the world after Cairo’s Egyptian Museum. During the event, Hawass presented highlights from his new book “The Man with the Hat”, which recounts his remarkable career in Egyptology spanning more than fifty years.

The lecture was introduced by Dr. Christian Greco, Director of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, who welcomed Dr. Hawass and praised his efforts in reviving global interest in ancient Egyptian civilization.

The event drew a wide audience of Italians and Egyptology enthusiasts, who engaged with Hawass’s stories and insights into his archaeological discoveries. He also responded to questions about the mysteries of the pharaohs and the latest findings from Saqqara and the Valley of the Kings.

At the close of the evening, the museum organized a signing of “The Man with the Hat”, where eager attendees lined up to obtain signed copies, reflecting Italians’ enduring fascination with ancient Egypt.

This honor is part of Dr. Hawass’s ongoing scientific tour across Italy, which includes lectures in several major cities to showcase Egypt’s latest archaeological discoveries and to promote its heritage as a treasure for all humanity.
