This March marks the end of an era of one of the wildest shows on television. The CW announced that "Riverdale" seventh and final season will premiere on Wednesday, March 29 at 9 p.m. ET.
“Riverdale” has been running since 2017. It is based on the Archie Comics universe which has over 80-year history.
The hugely popular Archie Comics series was developed and executive produced by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
It followed Archie (KJ Apa), and his friends Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) as they try to survive high school and trying to solve various types of mysteries including many murder mysteries, serial killers, and cults.
The series is darker and edgier than the more traditional happy-go-lucky comics from the stories it is based on.
The theme of the series features a very reminiscent of classic horror movies and slashers. The series has even cast actors with horror genre resumes like Scream’s Skeet Ulrich who plays Jughead’s dad.
Season 7 see everyone trapped in the 1950s and blissfully unaware of why they're in that time. However, Jughead will attempt to return the town back to the present day. To do so, he will enlist the help of his girlfriend Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook).
The season will also focus more on the characters finding their way rather than centering the upcoming storyline on a main villain like the seasons past.
"Riverdale" also stars Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Casey Cott, KJ Apa, Vanessa Morgan, Charles Melton, Mädchen Amick, Drew Ray Tanner, and more.
The premiere episode was written by Aguirre-Sacasa and Iman Danielle, and directed by Ronald Paul Richard.
