On Sunday, Pop world-famed superstar Rihanna will return to the stage for the first time in seven years for Super Bowl half-time show.
The high-profile performance also marks the return of Rihanna to the Super Bowl after declining the gig alongside different artists in 2018 in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick and the Black Lives Matter protests.
Rihanna said: “I couldn’t be an enabler." "There’s things within that organization that I do not agree with at all, and I was not about to go and be of service to them in any way.”
Rihanna expressed that this was the right time to return to the Super Bowl half-time show, explaining: “There’s this weird s..t that happens when you become a mum, you unleash or unlock other parts of your superpower."
“You feel like you can take on or do anything. I wanted to take on the challenge. I wanted to do something that would force me to get back on stage.”
Rihanna also attributed her decision to the importance of representing Black people, Caribbean culture, and her homeland, Barbados, asserting: “It’s important for me to do this, this year,"
“It’s important for representation. I want my son to see that.”
