Ridley Scott is returning to cinemas with a new film that he describes as one of the most meaningful projects of his career.

The upcoming science fiction drama The Dog Stars is scheduled for theatrical release in Egypt and worldwide on August 27.

Unlike traditional post apocalyptic films known for large scale spectacle, Scott says this project shifts the focus toward human emotion and intimate relationships.

The story unfolds in a world devastated by a deadly pandemic, where survival becomes a daily struggle and human connection turns into the most valuable resource.

Scott emphasized that the film is not about the scale of destruction but about the individuals living through it.

He explained that small emotional moments between characters often carry more weight than any visual effects or action sequences.

Production on the film was completed in just 34 days, a pace Scott compared to fast television production.

However, he noted that this approach created a raw and immediate energy on set, allowing performances to feel more natural and instinctive.

The director also revealed that "The Dog Stars" became a priority project after changes in studio schedules forced him to reassess his lineup of films.

He chose to move forward with this story because of its blend of science fiction and deeply human drama, calling it potentially one of the strongest works of his career.

The film stars Jacob Elordi in the lead role, alongside Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley. It is based on the acclaimed novel by Peter Heller, which explores themes of isolation, loss, and survival after societal collapse.

The project is produced by 20th Century Studios and Scott Free Productions, with distribution handled by United Motion Pictures.
