Gad: Resumption of Egyptian-Russian Year with 50 Translated Books

The Egyptian General Book Organization is preparing to translate 50 Russian titles into Arabic with the resumption of the Egyptian-Russian Cultural Year, according to Dr.Sherif Gad Head of cultural activity at the Russian Cultural Center in Egypt.

Dr. Gad explained that the Russian side will determine the books and it will bear the translation costs.

The agreement is scheduled to be concluded next week between Georgi Borisenko, the new ambassador and head of the Egyptian General Authority for Book, Dr. Haitham Al-Hajj Ali, the latter who proposed the idea of ​​the first official agreement for the translation movement between the two countries, away from inpidual efforts.

It's in conjunction with the celebration of the 77th anniversary of bilateral relations dating back to 8/26/1948.

During an exclusive interview for See Gad said: The return of the celebration of the Year of Egypt Russia program was due to a request from the Egyptian Association for Graduates of Russian Universities and Institutes, which it submitted to the Russian Embassy and Egyptian government agencies, in which it demanded the resumption of the program with compensation for lost time by Covid19 by extending the year to mid-2021.

In addition to the re-naming that was agreed upon in Sochi city, during President Sisi's visit to Russia, which is called "The Year of Egypt and Russia for Humanitarian Cooperation," and the cooperation that this implies in the fields of trade, industry, and economy.

Dr. Gad said that this new plan would begin next October with the old plane, and there are plans related to Russian investment and cooperation in Egypt to invest in Africa.

About the old Egyptian-Russian Year plan:

The Russian program includes Russian folklore groups tour, the famous Russian ballet groups "Bolshoi" a week for the Russian film touring, and a conference for Russian orientalists to present what was written about Egypt.

This is being planned by Ambassador Dr. Ihab Nasr, who sponsored the Egyptian activity in Russia in cooperation with the cultural advisor Dr. Mohamed Nasr Al-Jabali.

In Egypt, the Culture Minister Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem , made great efforts at the Ministry’s sectors head, which all participated in a partnership with the Russian Center and the Russian University Graduates Association.

This initiative is considered the first of its kind because it was issued by Presidents Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Vladimir Putin. It is noteworthy that a whole year was devoted to strengthening relations between both countries.
