Researchers and academics emphasized that safeguarding the UAE’s cultural heritage demands a systematic approach combining individual initiatives with institutional support. They noted that sustainable heritage projects play a vital role in transmitting cultural identity to future generations and strengthening national awareness.
The discussion took place during a session titled “Heritage Projects: A Pillar for Documenting Emirati Heritage,” organized by the Sharjah Institute for Heritage as part of the 44th Sharjah International Book Fair. Speakers included Emirati heritage researcher Dr. Rashid Al Mazrouei and academic Dr. Hamad bin Seray, moderated by Mohamed Nour El-Din.
Dr. Al Mazrouei highlighted the ongoing need for heritage projects across all cultural fields, while Dr. bin Seray stressed that the sustainability of such efforts relies on genuine awareness and integration with social and economic development. Both underscored that preserving oral history, traditional crafts, and architectural heritage remains a shared national responsibility.
