Renowned Lebanese singer Elissa Celebrates Her 50th Birthday

Renowned Lebanese singer Elissa celebrated her birthday on Thursday, Oct. 27, and received a large number of congratulatory messages on her official social media platforms.

Elissa, one of the finest vocalist that the Arab world music industry could ever have, turned 50 today.

 Elissa, who is breast cancer survivor, has devoted her life to service humanitarian and social causes such as mental health, women’s rights, freedom of speech, and anti-bullying.  

Born in 1972 to a Syrian mother and a Lebanese father, Elissa earned his political science degree from the Lebanese University.

The talented singe made her singing debut in 1992 after she won the silver medal in Studio Al-Fann, a Lebanese singing competition, becoming one of the famous names in the musical scene in a short period.

She received several music awards in her career, mostly for Arabic pop songs delivered in the Lebanese or Egyptian dialect.

Elissa also became the first Lebanese singer to receive the World Music Award for Best Selling Middle Eastern Artist in 2005, winning twice again in 2006 and 2010.

Elissa, who released 30 million albums throughout her career, known for collaborating with many famous Arab and international musicians, such as Ragheb Alama, Chris de Burgh, Cheb Mami, Fadl Shaker and Tamer Hosny.
