Remembering Ghassan Matar on His 84th Birth Anniv.

Today marks the late veteran Palestinian actor Ghassan Matar's 84th birth anniversary.

The late actor was one of the biggest names in Egyptian and Lebanese cinema pretty early on in his career.

Born in Palestine in 1938, Matar lived in the Beddawi refugee camp in northern Lebanon and took part in several Cinema and TV artworks.

His versatility, skill, wit, and charm earned him many fans worldwide, who love his performances in films like 'Shayatteen El-bahr', and 'Amir Al-Bahar'.

In a career that spanned more than 45 years, the filmmaker helmed such classic movies as 'Ana We El Azab We Hawak', 'Bent Moshaghba Gedan', 'Allusus', 'El Abreyaa', and 'Nasaa Ellil'.

He has also had roles in several TV shows like 'Da'irat Aldaw', 'El Fanar', 'Muhamad Rasul Allah Ila Elalam', and 'Ahlam La Tanam'.

His famous plays include 'Marathi Zaam Asaba', 'Taralamlam', 'Do Re Me Fasolia', and 'Bahlool Fe Istanbul'.

Apart from acting, he led the fight for Palestinian and Arab independence from the Israel occupation authority.

He served as president of the Arab Artists Union and wrote several screenplays, including the 1996 Palestinian film “Al Tha'er” (The Rebel).
