"Dune" and "Mission: Impossible" star Rebecca Ferguson has joined the cast of the upcoming "Peaky Blinders" movie at Netflix, directed by Tom Harper who helmed episodes of the first season in 2013.
Ferguson is the first high-profile name set to star opposite the previously announced Cillian Murphy. Details about Ferguson’s role are under wraps.
Last month, Netflix has greenlighted the Peaky feature that will see Oscar winner Murphy returning as the fearsome gangster Thomas Shelby.
The continuation of the saga, set in the lawless streets of Birmingham in the 1900s, has been written by the show’s creator, Steven Knight, who will co-produce alongside Murphy, Caryn Mandabach, and Guy Heeley.
Executive producers include Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.
Plot details and further casting remain under wraps, but Knight provided an update in April that the pic is set during World War II.
The movie goes into production later this year and will be made in association with BBC Film.
Ferguson most recently reprised her role as Lady Jessica in Denis Villenueve’s $712M worldwide-grossing "Dune: Part Two".
She is also well known for starring opposite Tom Cruise in three Mission: Impossible films including last summer’s Dead Reckoning – Part One.
Ferguson recently wrapped production on MGM Studios’ sci-fi thriller "Mercy" opposite Chris Pratt.
She is also set to star in Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming untitled feature for Netflix.
On television, the actress stars in and executive produces Apple TV+ drama "Silo", which will soon announce the premiere date for season 2.
Other credits for Ferguson include Michael Gracey’s "The Greatest Showman" opposite Hugh Jackman, Tomas Alfredson’s "The Snowman" opposite Michael Fassbender and Tate Taylor’s "The Girl on the Train" alongside Emily Blunt.
