"Ready or Not", one of the best horror movies of the past decade, is gearing up for a comeback.

Directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, with their producer partner Chad Villella — together known as Radio Silence — have been working on a sequel to "Ready or Not" since 2019.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, the trio confirmed, that if the stars align to get it made, it will be "an absolute f---ing banger."

"It's getting figured out. That's what we'll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f---ing banger of a sequel," Gillett said. "And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made, we are so excited that it's happening. That movie is truly the love of our creative lives in a lot of ways."

"Ready or Not" starred Samara Weaving as Grace, who, on her wedding night, is hunted down by her in-laws on their lavish estate as part of a twisted, ritualistic game of hide-and-seek.

Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin directed the 2019 film, based on a script from Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.

The sequel was announced at the end of March, with Weaving returning and Adam Robitel directing. According to Gillett, the Radio Silence team went to Vegas with Busick and Murphy shortly after the movie's release in 2019 to craft a sequel.

"I don't think we knew after making it that there would be so much story left to tell. We're so proud of what that first movie is, we're so proud of what the sequel is. We're just really excited, and fingers crossed that it gets made, "Gillett added.

"And with Searchlight and Samara, they're not gonna let it down," Bettinelli-Olpin commented.

Abigail

The team also spoke with EW on their new movie "Abigail", which they say has a lot of Ready or Not vibes and follows a group of kidnappers who get in over their heads when their young target, a girl named Abigail, turns out to be a vampire.

The movie’s official logline reads, “Children can be such monsters. After a group of would-be criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. In an isolated mansion, the captors start to dwindle, one by one, and they discover, to their mounting horror, that they’re locked inside with no normal little girl.”

Playing the kidnappers are Melissa Barrera, Kathryn Newton, Dan Stevens, Kevin Durand, Newton, the late Angus Cloud, William Catlett, and Giancarlo Esposito. Alisha Weir stars as Abigail. The film marks one of Cloud’s final on-screen performances, following his death in July 2023 at the age of 25.

“Abigail” is produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and James Vanderbilt on behalf of Project X Entertainment. Tripp Vinson also produces in addition to Chad Vilella of Radio Silence. Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher serve as executive producers.
